Divisions, Units and Departments

Accountant General’s Office

The Treasury Division is headed by the Accountant General and consists of the following:

  • Main Treasury
  • Marigot Sub-Treasury
  • Portsmouth Sub Treasury

The Main Treasury comprises seven (7) sections namely:

  • Administrative
  • Research and Reporting
  • Accounts and Claims
  • Internal Audit
  • Pre-Audit
  • Cash Section
  • Cash Management

The Accountant General is charged with the compilation and management of the accounts of the Government. The Accountant General shall, at the close of each financial year, prepare, certify and submit to the Director of Audit the accounts of the Commonwealth of Dominica for that financial year, showing the financial position of the Commonwealth of Dominica on the last day of that financial year.

The Treasury Division is responsible for:

  • Accounting promptly for all receipt and payment transactions incurred and ensuring that all revenues are banked promptly;
  • Ensuring that all payments are expedited as promptly as possible;
  • Ensuring all Government Agencies comply with relevant laws, rules and regulations;
  • Ensuring that there are adequate internal controls and these controls are adhered to;
  • Ensuring that all Government Accounting systems are functioning efficiently and effectively and that financial information is provided in a timely and accurate manner using appropriate technology;

Preparing the annual financial statements in a timely manner and submit same to the Director of Audit.
